December’s Debt: Part 1
The city’s cold, the cases are colder, and Jack Hammer’s just trying to get through the day when a cryptic warning from an old newsie puts him on edge: watch out for a dame in dark glasses and a red purse. Sure enough, she appears like a ghost in a smoky diner, leaving behind only a two-word riddle: “Remember December”. The message drags Hammer back to the ghosts of his own past and the lessons learned under the wing of an old bookie. When he finally tracks down the mysterious woman, the plot thickens—she reveals a dangerous connection to Rocco Racini, the vengeful grandson of an old enemy, letting Hammer know he’s just walked headfirst into a setup. Outgunned and playing on a rigged table, Hammer knows he needs backup. His only option? To return to the grimy streets of Old Town and seek help from his estranged Uncle Frank, relying on the one currency that still spends in the shadows: blood and loyalty.
