December’s Debt

A cryptic warning about a woman in red sends P.I. Jack Hammer down a rabbit hole when she leaves him a note: “Remember December.” The message dredges up ghosts from his past, connecting him to old bookies and dangerous scores. When he discovers the woman is tied to the vengeful Rocco Racini, who has set a deadly trap for him, Hammer knows he’s outmatched. He turns to his estranged Uncle Frank in Old Town and enlists the help of ace card shark Jamie Diamond to sit in on a high-stakes poker game where more than just money is on the line. While Hammer runs surveillance, Jamie plays a hand where one wrong move could be fatal, as a long-overdue debt from a cold December is finally called in.
