Jack Hammer

Ace Reporter. Private Dick.

Good work. You found my secret file cabinet of personal dossiers.

THE CITY IS ON FIRE. We are under attack. The static is getting louder. I received a message about a safe house, but the location was encrypted.

Then a punk kid rode by on his bike, tossed a crumpled paper at my chest, and yelled:

"Hey Hammer! You're looking in the wrong place! The truth isn't on the front page... it's in the ten cent rag! Find the Pulp-Noir under a dime!"

And with that, he was gone into the smog. Follow the clue. Follow me.

"They say laughter's the best medicine. I guess that's why my doctor told me to quit journalism and start a clown college. But then I realized, most of the clowns are already in politics. And their jokes? Not nearly as funny as the ones I dig up on the daily."

"I tried to write a story about honesty in Washington, but my typewriter jammed. Must’ve sensed the lie before I did. Around here, truth’s an endangered species—spotted once a decade, stuffed, mounted, and trotted out for campaign season."
