Thrilling Detective Magazine 1953

Thrilling Detective Magazine 1953 cover

You’re asking about Thrilling Detective Magazine? Take it from this Detective, I’ve seen it. It’s the kind of thing that makes you want to wash your hands after you touch it, and that’s just fine by me. It was a ten-cent rag that came out of the Thrilling Publications outfit, and it had a good long run, from the grimy ’30s right up until ’53. That was the year it went belly-up, had its final curtain call, and was put on the same shelf as all the other forgotten clues. It didn’t mess around with flowery prose or pretty pictures. Every page had the stink of the streets on it, full of hardboiled stories about guys who knew their way around a .38 and a lie, and every one of them was the real thing. It was a good read for a guy who knew what was really going on behind the city lights. Read the whole rag at the Internet Archive.
