They’re selling you a story. A grand plan. They call it a new tax law, a fix for the broken system. They say it’ll make the rich pay their fair share, that it’s about justice. But I’ve been around too long to buy a story that shiny. I read the fine print, and the fine print always says the same thing: The little guy pays.
The Hustle
The bill is a masterpiece of misdirection. It hits the big corporations and the wealthy with new taxes, all right. A lot of dough on paper. But they’re not the ones who’ll feel the pinch. They’re just the middlemen in this shell game. You see, when a big company gets hit with a new tax, they don’t eat the cost. That’s not how they do business. They just find a way to pass that bill on to you.
It comes in the form of a higher price on your groceries. It’s a bigger tab for the gas you put in your truck. It’s another couple of bucks for the clothes on your back. It’s a tax with a smile and a handshake, and you’re the one left holding the receipt.
The Real Winners
So where does the money go? The politicians on both sides of the aisle are already celebrating the “trillions” they’re going to get. They’re already picking out new paint for their projects and planning new ways to spend it. They’re telling you it’s for infrastructure, for social programs, for a better tomorrow.
But a better tomorrow for who? The same fat cats who get hit with the initial tax are the same ones who get the government contracts to build the roads. They’re the ones who get the subsidies and the bailouts. They’re the ones who get a bigger bill to pay, and a bigger check to cash.
It’s a simple hustle. The government takes money from the corporations, who then take more money from you. And then the government gives the first money back to the corporations, who keep the second money for themselves.
Don’t fall for the hype. They’re selling us on a story of equality, but they’re just picking our pockets. The Tax Man Cometh, and when he leaves, the powerful are a little bit richer, and you’re a little bit poorer.
Yours Truly, Jack Hammer.
